Low IQ Media: The Farley Furphy

Another example of mainstream media’s (MSM) low IQ, dumbed-down understanding of the English language reared its ugly head after an interview Farrer MP David Farley did with News24’s Peta Credlin (29/10/26).  Albo, keen to climb out of his own septic mess, probably thought he’d spread a bit around to see if he could fertilise a division in One Nation, or take the heat off himself.

Now, Farley had a pre-parliamentary relationship with Albo over the live cattle exports, and that has drifted now into water.  Farley’s not new to negotiating.   We need to remember that at the end of the day, as in any negotiations, we don’t all get what we want – each side usually gets something it can live with.  Not win:win, more lose:lose, but hopefully somewhere in between.   Something each side can live with.

Instead of dealing direct with Pauline over the lack of staffing issues, Albo thought he’d go direct to Farley, since they were talking water anyhow,  and sent  him a letter offering him extra money for staff – which Farley needs.  Farrer’s a huge electorate.

You might call it a form of blackmail, a generous offer or political expediency on Albo’s part, depending on which political fence one sits on.  After all, Albo knows the protocol, but does have a reputation for political manipulation – it’s not just melons he can juggle!  He may have seen an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

Nevertheless, Farley’s been negotiating with Albo and the ALP particularly over water and the urgent need to get a crop in right now, especially in relation to Farrer, so of course, he SHOULD be meeting with Albo whenever the opportunity arises!

Farrer people would expect him to – and he’s already prosecuted the case for Farrer far better in six months than Sussan Ley ever did – even when she was in government! She was totally ineffectual for Farrer.  A complete waste in the water space.

So, Farley’s naturally going to be cautious about what he says, because he wants to keep the lines of communication with Albo and Co. open to negotiate. AND he should.

When Credlin asked Farley if he’d rule out joining Labor, he took a breath – no doubt to mentally check where the blue heelers were.  Instead of simply saying No, he explained WHY he joined One Nation in the first place – because of One Nation’s political courage and tenacity; and WHY he liked them – that that tenacity and political courage was backing him.

Farley wouldn’t have wanted to dump on Albo because he’s trying to get a practical water deal for Farrer – which we need now, and will need a whole lot more negotiation in future from someone who knows their stuff – from an agricultural and corporate perspective.

Talking Blue Heelers – Farley can run rings around them all, because he understands the issues intimately, and has the unique background of having hands-on practical bush experience through to the corporate world, even negotiating for agriculture at pretty high levels in Washington.

We need that sort of experience. It’s invaluable. Not many can argue the economics, politics and agricultural relevance with facts and authority.  David Farley can.

But this isn’t good enough for the low-IQ MSM – they rushed into the breather space claiming to be able to read Farley’s mind …… and leapt off the low IQ grasp of the English language “cliff” –  jumping from an ants nest.

“Oh no, there was no NO!  He didn’t say NO!”  So, of course Farley was going to defect, who wouldn’t want to jump ship to the Albo camp at the moment??

No-one in their right mind obviously, but  I guess mind-reading makes up for low IQ in the MSM world when they’re short of a story, or don’t want to print the REAL ones.

I guess it’s just a case of “Damned if you do and damned if you don’t” …… but in Farley’s case, damned if the MSM will talk about dams to dam water for productive agriculture.  ‘Better to throw in a Furphy’, those low-IQ excuses-for-journo’s think, lest we have to talk about something really meaningful, like dams for damn food.
