Democrat Secretary of State Elaine Marshall certified Stein’s appointment of the scandal-plagued Tillett, who is also struggling to redefine himself amid a scandal where he and his son Jeremy were caught screaming the N-word.
Roy Cooper’s protégé and current North Carolina Democrat Governor Josh Stein appointed long-time Democrat Jerry Tillett to serve the remainder of retired Senator Boby Hanig’s term in September.
The appointment is notable since the former-Democrat is struggling to extricate himself from two scandals that are making waves across the Tar Heel state:
Jerry Tillett’s ties to convicted child molester Harvey West, and Jerry and Jeremy Tillett’s leaked audio in which they can be heard screaming the N-word.
The Assembly, a left-of-center Raleigh-based mainstream media publication confirmed National File’s original exclusive report.
The Assembly’s Jeff Billman wrote that, according to Dare County District Attorney Jeff Cruden, the audio in question only contained the voices of three individuals: Jeremy Tillett, Jeffrey Tillett, and Tanya Tillett, Jerry’s wife.
Tillett told Cruden that he wanted to know how the audio was obtained, since the recording contained only three voices—those of Tillett, his wife, and his son—and none of them recorded it, Cruden said.

Democrats are spending millions blasting convicted child molester Harvey West’s ties to Michael Whatley as the general election heats up.
Democrat Stein’s decision to appoint Jerry Tillett – a man who child molester Harvey West publicly supported for office – to the state senate could spell trouble for Democrats who thought they had a clean takedown on Whatley.
In addition, Stein’s appointment of Tillett, who is suffering from a scandal of his own creation, in which he and his son Jeremy can be heard screaming the N-word, introduces the clear double standard at play by the Democrats.
It’s OK for Democrats to be racists and to associate with known, convicted child molesters like Harvey West, evidently.
Jeremy Tillett, Jerry’s son, works as an agent for the Farm Bureau Insurance company, while Tillett’s father Jerry has served on the board of the Dare County Farm Bureau, and has also served as its president.
National File reached out to Farm Bureau Insurance to determine their position on their insurance agents screaming about killing black people and yelling the N-word.
We have not received any response from Farm Bureau at the time of publication.

It’s official — Governor Josh Stein has appointed Jerry Tillett to the NC Senate, District 1.
Love how this phrase rolls off the tongue — Stein signed the line to make this appointment official today, Thursday, Sept. 3.
Tillett will represent Senate District 1, which includes Bertie, Camden, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Tyrrell counties.
