In this Vital Signs interview, psychiatrist and neuroscientist Dr. David Rabin points to a growing gap in mental health treatment: While antidepressants and antipsychotics are a mainstay of PTSD treatment, a large proportion of patients show no significant improvement through this intervention.
Part of the problem, he suggests, lies in how trauma is formed. It’s not only the event itself, but what happens after.
